Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is based on a number of discoveries about the body’s subtle physiology observed by Osteopaths nearly 100 years ago.
In response to physical injury, emotional trauma or stress, the cranial membranes and other areas of the body may become tense and contracted thereby causing restrictions. These restrictions can impact the flow of cerebrospinal fluid which bathes, nourishes and protects the brain and spinal cord. The natural and free movement of the body, the flow of blood and lymph can also be affected resulting in pain.
If the body is unable to resolve these restrictions the effects may be both physical or emotional. Treatment involves helping the body to release restrictions. This happens at a deep, subconscious level by very subtle manipulation of the cranium of affected tissue.

The treatment –
This extremely gentle therapy uses no manipulation. The therapist evaluates what is going on in your body and in this way both identifies and relieves restrictions or tensions held in the body
Craniosacral therapy is so gentle that it is safe and suitable for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. It is often appropriate when other therapies may be unsafe; such as during pregnancy, after an operation, accident, fall or injury and for young babies. Craniosacral therapy may aid people with almost any condition by raising the vitality and enabling the body’s own self-healing process to be utilised.
The therapy is client- led. Your body will set the pace of the work so you will remain comfortable, in control and able to integrate the changes that occur.
