  • Persistent pain is one of the most challenging conditions and it is estimated it affects approximately 14 million people in the UK live with chronic pain (Chronic Pain Policy Coalition, 2015)

  • Persistent pain (chronic or long-term pain) refers to ‘pain that continues for three months or more and may not respond to standard medical treatment’ (British Pain Society, 2015)
