Alastair Thrush 

Alastair is a Chartered Physiotherapist having qualified with distinction from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2003, following on from a first-class honours degree in Sports Science from the University of Birmingham.  He has worked as a Physiotherapist within a number of different organisations including the NHS, private practice and elite sport. Alastair spent 10 years working full-time in professional football with both Arsenal Football Club and more recently Charlton Athletic Football Club, where he served as Head of Medicine & Sports Science from 2016-2020, a period which included the triumphant League 1 Play-off Final win at Wembley in May 2019. Prior to his work in elite football, Alastair worked in private practice both here in SE London and a 2-year stint overseas in New Zealand and Australia (2005 – 2007).  During this time he worked with a number of elite and amateur athletes from sports including rugby, cricket, swimming and triathlon.  He was also part of the medical team at the 2012 London Olympic Games looking after the boxing competition.   Alastair is a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapist’s in Sport & Exercises Medicine and has a special interest in sporting injuries of the knee and ankle, in particular ACL injuries, tendon-related pathologies and long-term athletic development.
